Hi, sorry about not posting on here for ages bu i’ve gone through a little bit of a dry spell for making images (though i have 12 rolls of undeveloped film sitting in my room so i haven’t not been taking photos). So i decided to do a little photo shoot with my little cousin Wilson.
It explaing in the set how i took these pictures and they were all done with my Sony A390, Kit lens (18-70 f/3.5-5.6) and two yongnuo YN-560’s!
To find out more information and see the other photos just click on the photo and it’ll zip you over to my flickr page!

Hi everybody. This isn’t really very photography related and am going off on a bit of a tangent but i think i should give my brother a hand in marketing his new album. He is a very talented musician and i know he would really apreciate it if you go and gave his music a look. He has a new album out on the 16th and is taking pre-orders of his first physical album “The Dividing Line” for only £4.99 or 50p digital download. Of course if you don’t wan’t to shell out your money on some guy you don’t know check out his previouse albums such as “Rain For Sound” and listen to his style.. even though it is changing dramatically. anyways here is a link and check him out!
All photos taken by moi using a Sony A390 and one Yongnuo YN-560 with umbrella. (The sheet was just to make the CD’s the only subject, even though that was not my idea because i hate the wrinkles)

YAY! got a couple rolls of film back from “Canterbury Camera Centre” (http://www.cant-cameras.demon.co.uk/). i’m really getting into this whole street photography stuff and find film a very therapeutic and gives me an almost nostalgic feeling. (Not that i think digital should be forgotten or dismissed. both have their bonuses) Anyway.. the black and white photos (follow click through link) are a bit messed up because the back of my camera fell of (though i think in some cases it adds to the photos) causing wierd light marks.
Click on the picture to check out the rest of my set and my flickr.. i would really appreciate it! Thank Guys!

MY BABY! so this is a photo of my personal zorki 4 vintage rangefinder camera and the jupiter 8 50mm F/2… great fun and completely love the camera. it’s a very different feeling shooting a rangefinder compared to shooting an SLR let alone a DSLR. However it serves it’s purpose and i only really use it for street photography and will be posting many photos in the future.
the photo was take with two Yongnuo YN-560’s and my sony A390. The backdrop was quite literally a bed cover thrown over my sofa!

Got my Film back from “Canterbury Camera Center” the other day and have scanned them all up onto the computer (my scanner is pretty shoddy so they are equivalent to a 2mp image or so). This is my personal favorite from the prints but all o them were only test shots.. Click on the image to go to my Flickr or follow the link to my DigitalRev account!

A Quick go with my strobes! Really want to do it more but don’t really have models or anything else to shoot. still a lot of fun to get out and this shot (and the rest of the shots in the click through link) are of my brothers girlfriend while she was round our house one day..
if you want to  look at the other shots follow the link bellow or click on the image for my flickr —> http://www.digitalrev.com/album?id=4795975
Also for all of the shots i had one strobe facing her dead on and one to her left to add extra dimension.

Had a great time out with a lot  of friends friday, but also had to bring my camera. despite it being passed around more than a spliff at a  house party i think i still managed to have a great time shooting on the street. Tried out a lot of tips from Eric  Kim (just smiling and saying thankyou and deleting photos if someone asks).
Check out Eric’s Blog here if you haven’t -> http://erickimphotography.com/blog/

My Yongnuo YN-560 ‘s arrived yesterday.. sadly had to pay £4 VAT plus another £8 handling fee. apart from that i’m so happy to have them. my flash triggers have not arrived vet but just shooting with the flash on camera is brilliant. I was a little bit worried about no TTL but it doesn’t seem like its all that hard… if you wan’t to look at some more of my photos just click on this photo.. Cheers!

Got Back from Southwold yesterday. it’s taken me a while to edit the photos (my dad used my camera and had to correct the white balance) but apart from that i have converted all the shots to JPEG and just uploaded them. Check them out at either of these links and add me if you have an account!

SouthWold Challenge 2012

off to Southwold for the weekend! of course i am going to take my camera because it would be silly to visit somewhere new to me and not take a camera. i always find myself much more creative in new places and that my local town of Canterbury begins to get mundane because everything is so ordinary to me. Anyways i decided to set myself a little challenge to spice things up a bit. with the absence of having a working film camera i am going to make sure that the first 24 photos i take i wont edit, delete, or anything like that no matter how bad they are. i just though it would be fun.. but yeah after that ill just take normal photos so hopefully i’ll have loads to upload on Monday!  (ill upload the photos to My “digitalRev” acount and Flickr calling the folder “Southwold Challenge 2012”)

Just ordered my self two of these!
also bought two cheapo lightstands and two shoot through umbrellas.
also got got myself one trigger and two recievers with built in umbrella mounts.
all in all £144… seems like a pretty good deal.  Cant wait for it all to arrive!

Just got my Royal Python (or ball python.. whatever you want to call it) back from the reptile shot who has been holding her for the past month because of travels and such things… anyway with her arrival i decided to take a few shots!

Flashes/ Strobist work

I’m having a bit of a dilemma. I have about £150 saved up at the moment and want to invest into some/ flash(es). It will be my first flash purchase being fair new to photography an I’m not sure what to get.

A flash I have been looking at is the Sony HVL F42AM. Looks like an All round good flash but will take up all of my £150. It seems to have pretty decent specs for the price.

My other option is to buy two Yongnuo YN-560 flashguns, some wireless triggers with two umbrellas and two light stands.
So my dilemma is that with the second Option I get more. however the YN560 doesn’t support TTL metering and the model up (YN560ii) doesn’t come with Sony mount. Being first time flash user I’m not sure whether going full manual for both on an of camera flash is a good idea

I’d love if you could drop me some advise in the message box. I’d really appreciate it!

A quick go at the whole low key portraiture thing. i only took about three shots and i think this is the best one. (reminds me allot of Lou reeds album ecstasy but hay “what cha’ gonna’ do). i took this photo just using a light in my kitchen but hopefully am going to buy a “Sony HVL F42AM” flashgun.
shutter speed: 1/320                                                                                            Aperture: F/1.8                                                                                                             ISO: 100
